Basic Killer Pool Gameplay
Number of Players
- Minimum: 3 players
- Maximum: Typically up to 15 players, though this can vary based on the number of lives and table size.
Objective
The objective is to be the last player remaining without striking out. Each player aims to sink a ball to avoid getting a strike on their turn.
Setup
- Rack the Balls: Use a standard 15-ball rack.
- Decide Turn Order: Determine the shooting order randomly by using the Shuffle Button after all players have been added.
Rules
- Starting: Each player starts with zero strikes.
- Break: The first player breaks the rack. If the first player sinks a ball on the break the next player takes their turn. If not, the first player has one attempt to sink a ball or get a strike before the next player takes their turn.
- Turns: Players take turns to sink any ball on the table. There are no specific balls assigned to players, and the goal on each turn is simply to sink any ball to avoid a strike.
- Getting a Strike: If a player fails to sink a ball during their turn or scratches, they get a strike. If a player scratches on their turn, the next player in the order gets a "ball in hand" opportunity and can place the cue ball anywhere on the table to setup their next shot.
- Continuing Play: The game continues in the same order, with each player trying to sink a ball and avoid a strike during their turn.
- Elimination (Striking Out): When a player strikes out three times, they are out of the game.
- Re-Racking: If all the balls are sunk and players still remain in the game the balls are re-racked. The player whose turn it was when the re-rack occurred continues shooting after the re-rack.
- Winning: To win, the last player remaining without three strikes must sink any ball on the table without striking out. If the last player strikes out the game is "reset".
Additional Rules
- Resets: A reset occurs when the last player remaining fails to sink a ball on his last turn before striking out. If this occurs the game starts over without a winner, the balls are re-racked, and all players are back in the game with no strikes! The player order is reversed and the player who was first in the previous round now goes last. Use the Reverse Button to reverse the player order.
- Fouls: Standard fouls (such as sinking the cue ball) may result in an immediate strike, depending on the agreed-upon rules before starting the game.
- Strategy: Players may employ various strategies such as playing safe shots to make it difficult for the next player to sink a ball.
Tips for Playing Killer
- Focus on Consistency: Aim to sink at least one ball per turn to avoid a strike.
- Defensive Play: Occasionally, play defensively by leaving the cue ball in a challenging position for the next player.
- Stay Calm Under Pressure: As strikes increase, the pressure increases. Keep your composure to make your shots count.
